I first started to code back in 1996 when I was given a copy of Pascal. I then started teaching myself how to code and each time I mastered a new language I would do a course just to get some papers behind my name. Not that I ever used it for anything 😀
I found coding to be a bit boring after the first few months but then found game development and I have not looked back since.
